Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah fires Akufo-Addo for destroying the NPP

According to the broadcast journalist, the former president is responsible for the NPP’s defeat in the 2024 elections, which the then-ruling party was desperate to win.

Speaking on the maiden edition of his “For the Records show”, Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah questioned the necessity of the fact-finding committee established by the party to investigate the cause of its embarrassing defeat, arguing that the reason was already well known.

“Prof. Mike Oquaye and others already know the cause of the NPP’s defeat in the 2024 general election. In the very room where the fact-finding committee was formed sat the person responsible for the loss. The reason for the defeat was right there. They should have bundled him up when they were leaving that room.

“You may recall that I recorded an audio message while I was with Angel FM, in which I asked him if he was happy with the state in which he was leaving the NPP ahead of the elections. Your Excellency, I ask you again: now that you have left office, are you happy with the state of the NPP—the party you led into an election where it secured only 42% of the votes? Are you truly satisfied with the condition of the NPP? We must learn to speak the truth. Were you content with the divided state of the NPP heading into the 2024 elections? The challenges the party has faced since its formation should have served as a lesson, but sadly, ex-President Akufo-Addo failed to learn from them,” he fumed.

He added, “When the history of the NPP is told, the party often avoids discussing the events of 1979, but we will not let them forget. We will remind them of the divisions that occurred. If they fail to remember that history, they will continue to weaken and ultimately destroy the NPP.”
