A crunch meeting is set to take place tomorrow, Friday, January 7, 2021, between the Council of State and the Presidency.

This is to determine the fate of the Finance Minister, Kenneth Ofori-Atta.

According to sources close to Ghanasonline.com, the abysmal performance of the owner of Databank who is also a direct cousin to President Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has gotten to the state where the government cannot bear it anymore.

Prior to the gathering scheduled for tomorrow, an emergency meeting was called on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, intercepting the personal schedules of members of the cabinet and council including President Akufo-Addo himself.

A ‘Presidential Globe African Heroes Honours 2021’ award organised by the Rectitude International Mission on December 29 at the Marriott Hotel was cancelled since the President was to be the special guest of honour.

Our sources further indicate the three persons suitable for the position are all refusing the offer.

Whilst the Health Minister, Kwaku Agyemang Manu, is allegedly disappointed for being denied the portfolio from the commencement of the NPP administration, Economist and former MP for New Juaben South, who also chaired the Finance Committee of Parliament, Dr Mark Assibey-Yeboah has not been clear with his reasons, with the Monitoring and Evaluation Minister, Dr. Anthony  Akoto-Osei claiming he has other serious engagements which cannot make him handle the Finance Ministry.

Ghanasonline.com sources have it that the three are refusing the offer because they don’t want to bear the yoke of fixing the heinous damage Mr. Ofori-Atta has created at the ministry.

The meeting is set to commence at 09:45 GMT tomorrow.
