#OccupyJulorbiHouse Protest: Court remands 19 protestors over unlawful activities

Ten protesters who were arrested during the #OccupyJulorbiHouse demonstration on Saturday, September 22, 2024, have been remanded after appearing in court on Tuesday, September 24, 2024.

According to a report by citinewsroom.com, the accused persons denied the charges of unlawful assembly, unlawful damage, assault on a police officer, and conspiracy to commit a crime, when they were brought before Circuit Court 6.

Due to the number of defendants, their cases were heard in batches across two circuit courts, Court 6 and Court 10.

On Tuesday, September 24, 10 individuals were remanded into police custody, before nine more protesters were subsequently remanded, the report added.

On Saturday, September 22, 2024, several protesters taking part in a protest by Democracy Hub were picked up by the police for engaging in unlawful activities, including blocking roads, toppling police barriers, and obstructing traffic at the 37 Roundabout in Accra.
