Obuasi Fire Service rescues baby dumped in public toilet at Kwameduakrom

Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) have rescued a newborn baby boy who was dumped in a public toilet at Kwameduakrom near Obuasi.
The incident occurred around 11:29 p.m. when residents reportedly heard cries coming from the public latrine and quickly alerted the Obuasi Fire Station.
Responding swiftly, firefighters successfully retrieved the infant from the pit latrine after a coordinated operation.
Miraculously, the baby was found alive and in stable condition despite the dire environment. Some community members assisted in cleaning the baby while waiting for emergency medical services.
The newborn was later handed over to health officials for further evaluation and care.
Authorities have not yet commented on the circumstances surrounding the incident, but police are expected to launch an investigation.
Public Relations Officer of the Ghana National Fire Service, Alex King Nartey, who confirmed the rescue, commended the crew for their selfless and timely intervention.
