NPP’s Efo Tommy DEAD

A stalwart of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and a former Special Advisor to President John Agyekum Kufour Mr. Tommy Amematekpor known as Efo Tommy in political circles is dead.

MyNewsGh.com confirmed from close sources that he died on Sunday evening at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital where he was on admission receiving treatment.

Close associates to the 77-year-old founding member of the NPP in the Volta Region have been distraught following news of his death.

Mr. Amematekpor, who was a contractor and a native of Agbozume in the Ketu South municipality, served as a Special Advisor to President John Agyekum Kufour between 2001 and 2008.

It would be recalled that recently, news about President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s visit to him at the Nyaho clinic was misconstrued by a section of the public as they claimed it was rather the President who was rushed to the facility.

But Director of Communications at the Prsidency  Mr. Eugene Arhin said all such videos circulating on social media purporting to show the President being rushed to Nyaho Clinic are untrue adding that the President was in Niger at the tkme

He explained that President Akufo-Addo after commissioning the Ga-East District Hospital in Kwabenya decided to visit Mr. Tommy Amematekpor, a stalwart of the NPP, who was on admission at the clinic.

“The video making rounds on some social media platforms, and, unsurprisingly, some of our friends from the opposition, are claiming, with glee, that the President was rushed to the Nyaho Clinic. For the avoidance of doubt, no such thing happened.”

“The President on Wednesday, 6th November, after commissioning the Ga-East District Hospital, in Kwabenya, en route to Jubilee House, went to the Nyaho Clinic to visit Mr. Tommy Amematekpor, a stalwart of the NPP, who is on admission at the Clinic. ”
