NPP appointees have looted money that can only be kept at home – Asiedu Nketiah
Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has leveled serious allegations against appointees of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s administration, accusing them of looting state funds and hiding the proceeds in their homes.
Speaking on Accra 100.5 FM’s morning news on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, as part of his tour of the Akwapim South district in the Eastern Region, Nketiah claimed that the money allegedly stolen by some members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government is so substantial that they cannot deposit it in banks for fear of being caught by the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO).
He revealed that they could not travel outside with the looted cash because they would be arrested when they disembarked from the plane in international jurisdictions. So, these appointees are in a dilemma, and the only option for them is to continuously stash the money at home.
“The money they have looted is so much that they can’t take it to the banks because EOCO will be on their necks. So, they are stashing it in their homes—in flower pots, water tanks, and other hidden places,” Nketiah asserted.
He warned that as the country approaches the upcoming elections, these hidden funds might be used to buy votes in a bid to keep the NPP in power to continue their alleged looting of state resources.
“I want to urge you all to be vigilant. If they offer you money during the elections, remember it is your money. Take it, but vote against them,” Nketiah advised.
