Nkwanta South MCE Pays Courtesy Call on Ambassador Salamu Amadu, Appeals for Sports Complex Development

Accra, Ghana – June 20, 2025
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Nkwanta South, Honourable Joseph Awal Antwi, has paid a courtesy call on renowned entrepreneur and youth development advocate, Ambassador Alhaji Salamu Amadu, to discuss key areas of development for the municipality, with a special focus on youth empowerment through sports.

The meeting, which took place in Accra, was centered on building partnerships and exploring opportunities to promote sports infrastructure and community development in Nkwanta South. Hon. Antwi expressed admiration for Ambassador Salamu’s unwavering commitment to youth advancement and appealed for his support in constructing a modern sports facility for the district.

MCE Advocates for Youth Development Through Sports

Honourable Joseph Awal Antwi used the occasion to highlight the pressing need for a standard sports complex to serve the growing youth population in Nkwanta South. He emphasized that many young talents in the area lack the facilities to grow and compete, despite their immense potential.

“As a youth and sports enthusiast myself,” Hon. Antwi said, “I believe that if we can secure a sports complex for our municipality, it will go a long way to nurture more talents and promote healthy lifestyles. Our community is proud to have produced notable footballers such as Vincent Atinga, a former defender for Accra Hearts of Oak, and Emmanuel Keyekeh, who once played for Kumasi Asante Kotoko. With the right facilities, we can produce even more stars.”

He noted that the proposed sports complex would be a game-changer for the municipality, serving as a hub for both talent development and economic activity. According to the MCE, investing in sports is not just about recreation—it is about creating opportunities and changing lives.

Ambassador Salamu Commends Mahama’s Visionary Appointment

Ambassador Alhaji Salamu Amadu, known for his passionate advocacy for youth empowerment, praised the leadership qualities of Hon. Antwi and commended former President John Dramani Mahama for appointing him as MCE.

“As a Youth Ambassador, I want to say a very big thank you to His Excellency John Dramani Mahama for believing in your capacity and giving you the opportunity to serve as his representative in Nkwanta South,” Ambassador Salamu stated. “Your dedication to the youth and your passion for service are commendable.”

He encouraged the MCE to remain committed to his vision for the district and assured him of his personal support in initiatives aimed at improving the lives of young people.

Moving Forward: A Shared Vision for Impact

The meeting concluded on a promising note, with both Ambassador Salamu Amadu and Hon. Joseph Awal Antwi pledging to continue discussions on feasible projects that can drive progress in the municipality. In particular, the idea of building a sports complex was seen as a crucial first step in unlocking the region’s full athletic and youth potential.

Hon. Antwi also expressed optimism that with the right support and collaboration, Nkwanta South could become a model district for youth development in Ghana.

“Our young people deserve the best, and we are determined to give them the platform to thrive,” he said. “With partners who believe in the power of the youth, we can turn this vision into reality.”

A formal proposal for the sports complex is expected to be prepared and submitted for consideration, outlining the potential benefits of the project for the local economy, youth engagement, and community well-being.
