Nigerians react to Bobrisky’s six months jail sentence

Crossdresser and social media personality, Idris Okuneye popularly known as Bobrisky has been sentenced to 6 months imprisonment without an option of fine, from the date of his remand, April 9, 2024.

On hearing the news, Nigerians took to their social media space to express their concerns regarding the arrest and sentencing of the crossdresser.

Following an official post made by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Friday, April 12, 2024, via their Twitter page @officialEFCC, detailing how the crossdresser was arraigned on Friday, April 5, 2024, on a four-count charge bordering on mutilation of the Naira notes to the tune of N490,000,00 (Four Hundred and Ninety Thousand Naira).

Many Nigerians, displeased at the turn of events, expressed deep disappointment over the six-month jail sentence without an option of a fine.

One X user identified as PureStanley posted a video of a Nigerian Lawmaker, Engr. Ibrahim Abuna of Borno State lawlessly throwing money on his supporters at his constituency.

He wrote: “EXPOSED!!! “This is a Nigerian lawmaker, Engr. Ibrahim Abuna from Borno state, being lawless and throwing money at his constituents to cause a stampede. What they did to Bobrisky is a selective Justice. A selective Justice is an injustice. Injustice to one is injustice to all.

Others share their concern:

Baltic: “I’m not a fan of Bobrisky but see how fast you are when it’s an ordinary citizen. Meanwhile you have not been able to convict any ranking politician since APC took over in 2015. Yet billions are being looted left right & centre. You’ve become an attack d@g of the APC. Shame”

Igwedip: “But he is a first time Offender.

Hope if a Politician sprays money, he will also be jailed?”

Teesaids: “Bobrisky reportedly has been sentenced to 6 months in jail without option of fine.

This will serve as deterrent to all other abusers of the Nigerian law that kicks against the abuse of Naira in any way”

RealQuuenBee__: “Which CELL are you guys going to put him into?

It will be good to get this clarification from you as the authority in-charge”

EATINGWITHNAZO: “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”

Simplyweezee: “But sentencing him to 6 months in prison isn’t good now. You should have temper justice with mercy. Anyways, this will serve as a deterrent to others”

Martolexx: “Una for put fine nahhh Haba
Carry the fine up well, understandable, like 500,000,000
Then if he can’t pay, you lock her up”
CryptoDefiLord: “This sentence is too harsh for the offense. There should be an option of bail.
I hope you will go for everyone seen abusing the Naira”
