Nigeria: Girl, 18, raped and killed in Ibadan

Just as Nigerians are trying to get over the unfortunate death of Uwa and Tina, another story of the same sort is coming in from Ibadan.

18-year-old Bello Barakat a student of the Institute of Agricultural Research And Training IAR&T in Ibadan, Oyo state was allegedly murdered by armed robbers after she resisted being raped by one of them.

According to The Nation, the father of Barakat, Mr. Bello, found her dead close to their house and after she was examined, it was discovered that she had been raped.

However, a Facebook user who also shared the story online said she was stabbed to death after she resisted their attempt to rape her.

Barakat was a 100 level student of Federal College of Animal Health and Production in Ibadan, Oyo state.

Reports have it that the incident took place occurred on Tuesday, 2nd of June, 2020. While Nigerians are still mourning Uwa and Tina.

Meanwhile, Barakat has been buried according to the Islamic rites.

There has since been an online protest over the death of Barakat with the hashtag, #JusticeforBarakat.
