NIA to Commence Payment of 20% Staff Salary Arrears

The National Identification Authority (NIA) has announced that it will soon begin the payment of a 20% salary arrears owed to its staff, retroactive to January 2025. This long-awaited announcement was made during a press briefing on Wednesday, June 18, 2025.

Williams Ampomah Emmanuel Darlas, the Head of Corporate Affairs at the NIA, confirmed that the provision for these arrears was duly included in the Authority’s 2025 budget. He further noted that the proposal for the payment had received the necessary approvals from both the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission and the Ministry of Finance, clearing the path for disbursement.

Darlas provided a reassuring message to NIA staff, emphasizing that all the requisite administrative processes are currently underway to ensure the swift release of the funds.

“Yesterday, the Ministry of Finance, led by Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, acknowledged receipt of the letter and promised to fast-track all necessary procedures and forward it to the Controller and Accountant General so that staff can receive their 20% arrears dating back to January. I want to assure the staff of the National Identification Authority that their 20% will be paid,” he stated, reaffirming the commitment to settling the outstanding payments.
