The FX/Hulu show, spanning five episodes, delves into the relationship between the late artist and his mother, Black Panther activist Afeni Shakur, who passed away in 2016. If he wins, it would mark Tupac’s first Grammy award, according to the Daily Mail.

The remaining nominees in the Best Music Film category include Lewis Capaldi for “How I’m Feeling Now” and Kendrick Lamar for “Live From Paris, the Big Steppers Tour.” This category, specified for concert/performance films or music documentaries, awards not only the artist but also the video director and producer, as per the Recording Academy. The winner will be revealed during the Grammy ceremonies on February 5, 2024.

Tupac’s recent Grammy nomination coincides with renewed interest in his murder case. Duane ‘Keffe D’ Davis, aged 60, has been arrested in connection with Tupac’s murder in September 1996.

Investigators state that the self-described gangster, Davis, did not fire the gun that resulted in the death of the 25-year-old rapper. Prosecutors claim that Davis orchestrated the hit on Tupac in Las Vegas following a confrontation between Tupac, producer Suge Knight, and members of Davis’s crew after the Mike Tyson fight.

Despite pleading not guilty to murder charges, Davis previously admitted his role in the killing in his 2019 memoir, “Compton Street Legend.”

A grand jury indicted him on one count of murder with a deadly weapon, including a sentencing enhancement for gang activity that could result in an additional 20 years if convicted. Davis will remain in custody until his trial, scheduled for June 3, 2024.
