NDC guru wants state of emergency declared in Ashanti Region

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ashanti Region has advised the government to declare a state of emergency in the Region to ensure a rapid security approach to fighting the growing robbery cases.

A founding member of the party in Ashanti Region, Alhaji Saani Mohamed, is of the view that with over 10 people killed by armed robbers in a spate of two months, it suffices to declare a state of emergency in the Region.

Worried Alhaji Saani Mohamed wondered “how many more people must die at the hands of armed robbers before we fix the situation?”

He admonished the police to be up and doing to address the security issues the region is plagued with.

With reference to the broad day robbery incident at Alabar, a suburb in Kumasi, last Friday, in which two people were shot and killed, Alhaji Saani Mohamed expressed belief that the declaration of the state of emergency will intensify police visibility, which will scare persons with questionable characters, and, in turn, curb the high robbery cases in the Region.
