NDC did not have intellectuals to run UG Medical Centre – Bawumia’s advisor jabs

Government has questioned the intellectual ability of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to have managed the University of Ghana Medical Centre if they had remained in power.

The Economic Advisor to the Vice President, Dr Gideon Boako took a swipe at the Member of Parliament Bolgatanga Central, Isaac Adongo for alleging that the operationalization of the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) delayed because of government’s inability to recruit the ruling New Patriotic Party (NP) health professionals to administer healthcare to patients.

Reacting to the comment on Joy FM’s Newsfile show, Dr. Boako described the statement as unfortunate.

“We don’t want to politicize it, for you to come and sit here to talk about recruitment of health professionals, Doctors, nurses, and to suggest that people are not being recruited because they’re not seen to be clouded with political colours is very unfortunate. Because I don’t think the NDC even if we want to go into the details of this, may have the people who are more educated than we have in the NPP. To suggest that because they are not NDCs they are not being recruited that is why we don’t have personnel that is to implicitly assumed that without the NDC party we cannot have medical doctors or medical officers in this country.”
