National chief Imam preach peace at Ramadan conference

National Chief Imam Sheikh Dr Usman Nuhu Sharubutu has challenged Muslims to uphold the values associated with the period of Ramadan.

Values including discipline, peace, tolerance, love, unity, forgiveness, sharing and reconciliation he challenged should be demonstrated by all Muslims as a prove that they are doers of the tenets of the religion.

Considering Ghana as a multi-religious society, he advised that all followers of the Islamic  faith should encourage a healthy relationship with members of other religious groups before, during and after the period of fasting so as to consolidate their contribution to national harmony and development.

The enviable tranquil atmosphere enjoyed in the country he underlined should challenged the leadership to rise against every barbaric act of vigilantism and pray for perpetrators to refine their conduct irrespective of their political affiliation.

These statements of the National Chief Imam were uttered during the holding of the 25th National Ramadan Conference in Kumasi under the theme; “25 Years of Enhancing National Unity Through Fasting-The Role of Muslim Ummah”.

Making inference from the sacred words of Prophet Mohammed, the National Chief Imam made a quick indication that whoever resorts to violence and kills his brother just for want of leadership has nothing to gain, topping up with a warning that accursed is anyone who initiates violence.

” What do we gain by killing ourselves just for want of leadership which is given by Allah and not through violence ” he quoted.

Speaking on his behalf during the occasion, Alhaji Awasiu Bio who is the National Executive Secretary at the Office of the National Chief Imam commended President Akuffo Addo over the implementation of laudable policies as a way of alleviating the hardship confronting the nation.

The four-day 2019 Ramadan Conference witnessed a pomp attendance of a galaxy of Islamic scholars, leaders

and political figures including Sheikh Mohammed Kamil Mohammed who is the National Chief Imam for Alussunna Waljama’a -Ghana,  the Chief Imam for Istiqama Sheikh  Adam Suleman, Sheikh Ustaz Ahmed who is the Executive Secretary for the Council of Ulmer, Hon Muntakar Mubarak member of Parliament for Asawasi constituency, Hon Alidu Seidu who is the Municipal Chief Executive Officer for Asokore Mampong municipality, Minister of State at the office of the Vice President Alhaji Abubakar Sadique Boniface among others.
