N/R: One person feared dead, others sustain gunshot wounds in Tamale clash

One person has reportedly died with three others sustaining various degrees of gun shot injuries in a renewed chieftaincy clash at Yong Dakpema Yile, in the Tamale Metropolis.

One of the contestants for the skin in the dispute Mohammed Chimsi, and his wife were among the three injured, and are receiving medical attention from the Tamale Teaching Hospital.

A reprisal attack from the Chimsi faction resulted in the death of one from the opposing faction.

Sporadic gunshot exchanges in the community between the feuding sides allegedly forced some community members to flee the community for safety.

Two police officers who were deployed to the community by the Northern Regional Police Command also sustained gunshot wounds.

Police has since commenced investigations into the matter.

In February 2021, a similar attack in the area led to the lost of some two lives with several houses torched.
