My suits fashion sense predates Kimathi Rawlings’ birth – Asiedu Nketia replies critics

General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia has revealed that he started wearing suits as a rural bank manager even before Kimathi Rawlings, the last born and only son of former president Jerry John Rawlings was born.

There have been several reports that the former Member of Parliament (MP) through the generosity of his party’s founder, benefited from old suits of Kimathi which ushered him into how to dress with ‘coat and tie’

But speaking in an interview monitored by MyNewsGh.com, General Mosquito as fondly referred to in political circles, disclosed that those making such claims are doing so out of ignorance indicating that he became an MP even before meeting former President Jerry John Rawlings.

He disclosed that claims old suits from Rawlings’ son given to him were all part of a grand scheme to soil his reputation by some faceless individuals wondering how he could have reduced himself to that when he worked as a rural bank manager for five years.

“It got to some time they claimed I was wearing the suit of Kimathi. They said it was from wearing his suits I learnt how to wear coats … these are all fabrications. One thing about lying is that when you lie up to some point then you start believing in your own lies. To begin with, I was a bank manager for 5 years … if I, being a manager for five years did not know how to wear a suit is it someone’s suit I will wear before knowing how to dress?” he quizzed.

He also denied being the man in a colonial suit standing by former President Jerry John Rawlings at a public event during the revolution days.

“Anyone who looks at that image critically will see that the man in it is older than me. He was an information officer at Sunyani Regional Office and as at that time, I was not someone who could even get closer to the former President. It was during the early part of the revolution,” he revealed.
