My parent’s achievements mean nothing to me – Zanetor

Member of Parliament for the Klottey Korley constituency, Dr. Zanetor Rawlings and daughter of former President Flt. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings has said that her parent’s achievements have nothing to do with her ambitions and drive.

According to the outspoken Member of Parliament, her parents brought her up not to rely on their worth or achievements but rather to have a drive of her own and to achieve things by herself.

Speaking to Etornam Sey on TV3’s New Day Monday, August 19 Dr. Zanetor Rawlings said that she worked very hard to earn her position as Member of Parliament and that the status of her parents has very little to do with that achievement.

Responding to assertions that her parents status influenced her victory into parliament, she said, “I was very much aware of the dynamics on the grounds…but I had been raised not to rely on my parents’ achievements to make it through life. I did a lot of work, we really combed through the constituency, we went from house to house literally. It wasn’t something that happened, it took a lot of hard work and a lot of teamwork and shared vision.”

She, however, did not downplay the influence her parents might have had on her entry into parliament.

She said, “I can’t discard the influence of my background, my parents have lived in this constituency in the most of my life, my day was born here as well so it is a huge history.”
