Barring any last minute development, MENZGOLD Ghana, will start paying its creditors from tomorrow December 20, 2021, according to a statement issued by the company in Accra yesterday, detailing the names of customers whose particulars, have been vetted and listed to receive the various sums they are owed.

The announcement, follows a December 2, 2021, appeal the owners of the company made “to the Ghana Police Service, seeking access to a designated office facility and with a request for security to recommence payments, with the intention of extending invitations to vetted entitled claimants to personally come receive payments and acknowledge receipts at the said designated venue”.

However, the Police Service in its response dated December 15, 2021, with reference; CID/FFU.2/V.2/2021/315, amongst others advised that, the intended payment process should be done through an electronic medium, due to the following anticipated challenges the proposed payment model may pose to public peace and order.

This, includes the exposure of “beneficiaries and your employees to imminent criminal attacks since cash would be carried to and fro the designated venue”.

The police also anticipated that “the designated venue would be over crowded due to the public interest nature of the case, and as a result create public order management issues”, adding the adopted payment method “…would expose your employees, the beneficiaries, the police and the general public to the risk of spreading the Covid-19 virus as a result of the expected huge crowd at the designated venue”.

The statement, said that “with due regards to the above basis, respect for authority and as law abiding patriotic citizens, our company consequently shall proceed to achieve the same payments objective by resorting to direct bank deposits, as we happily commence our final payments phase spanning from the 20th December, 2021 to 30th, June 2022, starting off with the following vetted creditors outlined”.
