Meet the 14 journalists who have landed ‘juicy’ appointments in Mahama’s government

The administration of President John Dramani Mahama has seen the appointment of several notable journalists to key positions in his government.

Many of these journalists, often perceived as neutral figures in the media space, have been appointed to various institutions and roles.

Here are fourteen notable journalists who have secured prominent appointments under Mahama’s administration:

1. Randy Abbey, the former host of Good Morning Ghana on Metro TV, is now the CEO of the Ghana Cocoa Board.

2. Abeiku Santana, the entertainment show host on Okay FM, has been appointed as the Acting Deputy Executive Director of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA).

3. Raymond Acquah, a former news anchor at Joy FM, now serves in the Technical and Communication Department at the Ministry of Finance.

4. Lantam Papanko, a journalist from GHOne TV, has been appointed as the Corporate Affairs Manager at the Ghana Publishing Company.

5. Prince Minkah, a journalist with Power FM, has joined GOLDBOD as the Media Relations Officer.

6.Emefa Apawu, the Multimedia Group (Joy News) news anchor and host of The Probe, has been appointed as the Corporate Affairs Manager at the Petroleum Hub.

7. Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, a popular sports journalist Yaw Ampofo Ankrah has been appointed as the Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA). He is also the Head of Sports at IMAX Media.

8. Veronica Commey, Chief Sports Journalist at the Ghana News Agency (GNA) and a sports journalist at GTV, is now the Deputy Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA).

9. Paa Kwesi Asare, a former employee of TV3, has joined the Communications Department at the Bank of Ghana (BoG).

10. Okyere Darko, popularly known as KOD, a prominent media personality, has been appointed as the Director of Diaspora Affairs at the Office of the President.

He has worked with prominent media outlets such as Live FM, E TV Ghana, and GhOne, where he hosted popular shows and became a household name.

11. Stan Dogbe, a journalist and political strategist with over 25 years of experience, has been appointed Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations by President John Mahama.

He was the former head of Talk Programmes at Joy FM.

12. Shamima Muslim has been appointed Deputy Presidential Spokesperson by President John Dramani Mahama.

Shamima’s notable career in journalism includes roles at Citi FM and Metro TV, where she gained recognition for her insightful reporting and engaging presentations.

13. James Agyenim-Boateng has been appointed by President John Mahama as the Managing Director of SIC Insurance Company.

Before joining politics, James Agyenim-Boateng hosted Radio Gold’s morning show for several years, where he posed tough and probing questions to public officials on national issues.

Through hard work, he later rose to become the Chief Executive Officer of Radio Gold.

14. Alhassan Suhuyini, a one-time broadcaster, has been appointed as the Deputy Minister for Roads and Highways.
