Medikal Faces Public Outcry Over “Inappropriate” Stage Touch at Hall Week Performance

Ghanaian rapper Medikal is currently facing widespread backlash on social media following an incident during his performance at the Evandy-Bani Hall Week on June 14, 2025. A video circulating online shows the “Omo Ada” hitmaker seemingly touching a lady “inappropriately” on stage, sparking outrage among netizens.
The contentious video captures a lady, dressed in denim shorts, a white top, and Adidas slippers, being invited onto the stage by Medikal. Upon her ascent, the rapper embraced her, during which he appeared to touch her buttocks. The lady’s immediate body language suggested discomfort and embarrassment; she was seen covering her mouth with her palms, seemingly shocked by the unexpected contact.
The incident quickly drew a strong reaction from the audience, who began shouting and chanting “Obi Girl,” a Twi phrase meaning “someone’s girlfriend.” This chant implied public disapproval of Medikal’s perceived inappropriate touching of someone else’s partner.
In response to the crowd’s chants, Medikal directly asked the lady if she had a boyfriend, to which she nodded affirmatively. The rapper then turned to the audience and made a comment suggesting that her admission was influenced by the presence of cameras. “You should all stop the fans. If there were no cameras here, would she have admitted to having a boyfriend?” Medikal quipped to the crowd, before repeating the question directly to the lady: “If there were no cameras here, would you have admitted to having a boyfriend?”
The video has ignited a storm of condemnation across social media platforms, with many netizens labeling Medikal’s actions as inappropriate and a potential form of sexual harassment. Critics are pointing out that the rapper overstepped a boundary by touching the lady without her explicit consent and then trivializing her discomfort. Some users on X (formerly Twitter) have even gone as far as urging the lady involved to consider pursuing legal action against Medikal, highlighting the serious nature of unsolicited physical contact.
