May you get ‘prosecutorial er*ction’ in 2019 – Kwaku Azar prays for ‘impotent’ AMIDU

Respected Academic Prof Stephen Kwaku Asare fondly referred to as Kwaku Azar has joined former President Jerry John Rawlings in questioning the seeming “impotence” of the office of the Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu, twelve (12) months into the creation of his office and his eventual appointment.

Mr Rawlings had days ago urged the leadership of the Assemblies of God Church to enquire from the Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu what may be holding him up from delivering his mandate.

Speaking on during a courtesy call by the church leadership to inform him of the demise of their former General Superintendent, Rev. Dr. Simon Asore, the former President said Amidu is delaying in identifying and prosecuting corrupt acts by public figures which will lead to impunity and the further perpetuation of crime and corruption.

“I wonder what is holding him up. We do not want to see the perpetuation of crime. We don’t want to see crimes being committed with impunity. The power of virtue must override the power of vice,” the former President said.

Flt Lt Rawlings said after all President Akufo-Addo had also stated that he’s expecting the Special Prosecutor to deliver on his mandate when he (Martin Amidu) is ready.

Adding his voice to the development, Prof Kwaku Asare said he prays 2019 becomes the year Mr Amidu gets to work. According to Prof Azar, Mr Amidu has been “quite quiet on the prosecutorial front”.

“Happy first anniversary to the Special Prosecutor, notwithstanding that he has been quite quiet on the prosecutorial front.” he wrote.

He offered a prayer that Mr Amidu will find his “prosecutorial touch” in 2019.
