Many injured as VIP bus collides with Benz on Dambai-Accra Road

Several individuals are receiving treatment following an accident involving a VIP bus and a Benz on the Dambai-Accra road on Saturday, September 28, 2024.

The accident, which occurred at the Juapong police barrier, opposite the Alinco filling station, is reported to have been caused by the VIP bus driver.

“It was raining, and the bus was coming from Dambai. There was a Benz in front of the bus, along with a motorbike.

“The bus attempted to overtake while an oncoming vehicle approached. The driver tried to apply the brakes, but the road was slippery, and he couldn’t control the bus, causing it to somersault,” an eyewitness recounted.

He added, “The Benz was rather saving himself from the bus and there was a gutter nearby so he had no option than to land in the gutter.

“But everyone is safe by the grace of God. But there were a lot of injuries.”

In another account, a female passenger on board the VIP bus shared her experience: “I was actually seated just behind the driver. I think the car crossed us and the driver was speeding so he was not able to apply the brake on time.

“A lady sitting in front of me had her leg broken, and other people were also hurt including the driver.

“We went to a nearby clinic for first aid.”

According to the eyewitness, the injured were rushed to a nearby health facility by a passing driver who arrived at the scene shortly after the accident.
