Manager granted bail for defaulting in SSNIT payments

The Hohoe Magistrate Court has granted bail to Mr Folley Frank, General Manager of Heritage FM Limited, a local radio station in Hohoe, in the sum of GHC5,000.00 with two sureties for defaulting in payment of Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) contributions.

The defaulted pension contributions amounted to GH?19,556.00, spanning November 2014 to July 2018.

Mr Folley pleaded not guilty and will reappear in court on July 18.

Mr George Akuaku, Hohoe SSNIT Compliance Supervisor, presenting the facts of the case to the court, presided over by Mr Peter Anongdare, said the accused person is the General Manager of Heritage FM Limited in Hohoe.

He said the company was registered and covered by the Basic National Security Scheme under the National Pension Act 2008 (Act 766) as amended in the National Pensions (Amendment) Act 2014 (Act 883).

Mr Akuaku said inspections conducted by SSNIT inspectors into the pay books of the establishment covering the specified period revealed that the company had failed to pay contributions and penalties amounting to GHC19,556.00.

The prosecution said a demand notice was served on the accused person and several attempts made for him to settle the indebtedness proved futile.
