Man jailed 42 months for stealing, attempt to break cell

A 25-year-old man identified as Yusif Adam has been jailed 42 months by the Bole magistrate court in the Northern Region presided over by his Worship Andrew Prince Cudjoe.

The suspect who is a timber operator and a native of Bole was arrested by police patrol team on the Bole-Bamboi highway for stealing a pregnant sheep, causing damage to properties of Ghana police service by attempting to break cell in Bandankwanta after he was detained in police custody in 2016.

According to police investigations, Yusif stated he bought the pregnant sheep at Kiape a village in the Bole district of the Northern Region for GHc 200 at about 5am on February 26, 2019 on his way to load logs.

The accused however pleaded not guilty in both offenses but was imprisoned for 18 months for stealing a goat in 2016 and 24 Months for causing damage to police properties in his attempt to escape.

 

This, the Judge believed could put the police on duty in trouble by being sacked or demoted.
