Man in His 60s Mutilated in Brutal Attack at Kwesimintsim

A disturbing incident in Kwesimintsim, located in the Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipality of Ghana’s Western Region, has left a man in his sixties severely injured after a brutal attack under mysterious circumstances.

According to a report by 3news.com, the victim, identified as Samuel Sam, a resident of Tarkwa, was visiting his girlfriend at her family home in Kwesimintsim Zongo to spend the Easter holidays when the incident occurred.

The report states that on the night of the attack, around 10:30 p.m., Samuel and his girlfriend, Stella, decided to sleep outdoors in the compound due to a power outage in the area. Shortly afterward, Samuel returned indoors to continue sleeping, and Stella joined him soon after.

As described by Eric Acolatse, the Assembly Member for the area, things took a horrifying turn when Stella stepped into what she initially assumed was water in the dark bedroom. When she turned on the lights, she was shocked to find Samuel lying naked in a pool of blood, with a bread knife next to him. His genitals had been mutilated—his penis completely severed, and part of his testicles cut off.

Samuel was immediately rushed to the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital, where doctors confirmed the extent of his injuries. Fortunately, he is currently responding to treatment.

Following the attack, Samuel told authorities that he had been assaulted by two unknown men who overpowered him in the bedroom and carried out the gruesome act. Police initially arrested Stella for questioning but later granted her bail.

Meanwhile, speculation is rife among residents that the attack may be connected to Stella’s past romantic relationships. Some locals believe a jealous ex-partner or a former “sponsor” may have orchestrated the assault out of revenge or jealousy over her new relationship with Samuel.

The police are continuing investigations to identify and apprehend the assailants.
