Four Black Stars players who could be excluded from Ghana’s squad for Angola, Niger games

Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has reportedly submitted his squad for Ghana’s upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Angola and Niger to the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

The list is expected to be officially announced in the coming days, with both games barely two weeks away.

Some key players who have been significant for the Black Stars in recent years are set to miss out due to various reasons.

Some are currently clubless and have not been active since the season commenced, while others are struggling for minutes at their clubs in the new season.

The Black Stars will host Angola in Kumasi on September 5, 2024, before visiting Niger on September 9.

Here are players set who could miss Ghana’s squad

Andre Ayew

Black Stars skipper Andre Ayew is a free agent and could land a deal in the window’s final days.

He has been a free agent since leaving Le Havre in the French Ligue 1 at the end of the 2023/2024 season.

Salis Samed

The midfielder has been demoted to the reserves at RC Lens. He is said to be in talks with French side Nantes and Montpellier who are hoping to get the deal over the line before the window closes.

The uncertainty surrounding his future has led to him missing the club’s first three games of the season.

Daniel Amartey

The Ghanaian centre-back has found minutes hard to come by during his time at Besiktas, costing him a place in the Black Stars.

He departed the club after a season and has been a free agent since. According to the report, Celtic have expressed interest in signing the defender but he has not been offered a concrete deal yet.

Tariq Lmaptey

Brighton and Hove Albion defender, Tariq Lamptey just recovered from a knock after missing the cub’s opening game.

He was an unused substitute during Brighton’s win over Manchester United on matchday two. He might miss out on Otto Addo’s squad on request due to his fitness.
