A young man believed to be in his 30s was nearly lynched for siphoning fuel at Old Daboase Junction in the Shama District of the Western region.

The suspect, Kofi Nyarko, popularly known as Skeleton, siphoned diesel from a truck at Kumasi Kakrabam on Wednesday.

Reports by Adom News’ affiliate, Shama Radio reporter, Papa Kojo Nunoo suggest that, there had been reported cases of siphoned fuel in the area.

Residents who busted Kofi were convinced he had a hand in the previous incidents.

He was stripped by the irate residents, beaten and nearly killed.

Despite running to seek refuge on top of a moving commercial vehicle, he was chased while the beating continued.

The angry mob dragged him down, forcing the driver to park the car.

Residents have lamented the rampant theft in the community and have threatened to deal ruthlessly with any thief arrested.
