Mahama visits victims of Wuogon shooting
Former President John Dramani Mahama cut his campaign of the Volta Region short on Thursday, 31 January 2019 to visit the victims of Thursday’s shooting at Bawaleshie JHS polling station in the course of the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency by-election in Accra.
Mr Mahama described the shooting incidence as “sad for our democracy.”
The former Ghanaian leader called for calm among supporters of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) “despite the unacceptable attack on them.”
No death was recorded but six persons were injured and are receiving treatment at the Legon Hospital and the 37 Military Hospital.
Mr Mahama will be returning to the Volta Region today, Friday, 1 February 2019 to continue with his campaign.
