Mahama scraps fuel allowances to all appointees

President John Dramani Mahama has ordered the immediate cancellation of fuel allowances and allocations to all political appointees as part of a broader government cost-cutting initiative.
The directive was announced in a statement signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Minister for Government Communications and spokesperson to the President. According to the statement, the move is intended to reduce government expenditure and redirect public funds to critical priority areas.
This latest measure follows earlier steps taken by the Mahama administration, including a reduction in the size of government through fewer ministerial and staff appointments, and the suspension of satellite TV subscriptions in government offices.
“The President believes that leadership must also bear its part of the sacrifices it is calling on the people to make,” the statement noted.
The directive forms part of ongoing efforts to promote fiscal discipline and ensure the efficient use of state resources in the face of current economic challenges.
