Lower Axim paramount chief storms galamsey site, arrests two Ghanaians and one Chinese

The Paramount Chief of Lower Axim in the Western Region, Nana Ewulai Atibukusu III, has taken bold steps towards ending galamsey in his area.

The chief who is unhappy with the galamsey menace stormed the galamsey site in his community and arrested two Ghanaians and a Chinese.

According to the chief, the security agencies in the country must ensure that all the equipment which are being used in the galamsey sites are taken away after the people are caught.

He stated that anything which can be done to curb galamsey is his priority and he would make sure he would do everything in his power to curb the galamsey activities.

“I feel very sad that our environment is being destroyed by our own people,” he said.

He further made it clear that, anyone who attempted to continue the illegal mining in his community would be arrested.
