The Member of Parliament for Manhyia South Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has organized a free-health screening for his constituents.

The move, according to him, is to help his constituents who have problems with their waists and spinal cords to get them fixed.

“Today’s exercise is to help my constituents who have problem with their back, waists and spinal cords to get their system relieved. A healthy body is the productive body that contributes to bring development into the society” Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh said.

The one-day Health screening exercise was held at Abbys Park in the Manhyia South Constituency of the Ashati Region on Friday 8th June, 2018.

Scores of people, both young and old attended the screening exercise which was done by a fifteen-member medical team including Doctors of Physical Therapy (DPT), from George Fox University in the USA.

Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh  who is also the Minister of Education stated that the medical team was here in Ghana to offer free diagnosis and treatment to Ghanaian with various medical conditions.

“The group is an NGO from the United Stated of America (USA) and comes yearly to Ghana to offer free health care services. So when people have dedicated themselves from USA to offer these services, there is the need for us to embrace it to get the necessary benefits from it. We thank them very much for helping and supporting us we pray that they will be here every year to give these services to the citizens” he indicated.

Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh therefore urged Ghanaians to regularly go for medical checkups to know their health status.

“Health is paramount and that people should not wait till they fell sick before seeking medical attention, bad eating habits and lifestyles causes various sicknesses and going for health screening regularly would allow for the early detection of any ailment” he emphasised.

Leader of the medical team, Jeff Houck, advised Ghanaians to exercise more, eat fresh fruits and vegetables as well as seek medical attention regularly to live long.

Some people who had benefited from the free health screening exercise expressed their gratitude  to their Member of Parliament for the gesture and wished it was done annually.
