Lilies Field Academy Honors Osu Mantse

 

 

Lilies of the Field Academy, a non- governmental Organization (NGO) in Education, has honored the Paramount Chief of Osu Traditional Area, His Royal Majesty, Nii Okwei Kinka Dowuona VI, for his distinguish leadership, support to the NGO and for the development of Osu.

Nii Kinka Dowuona, who doubles as the president of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs was singled out for the leadership and support award during the NGO’s durbar held at the forecourt of the Osu Mantse Palace in Accra over the weekend.

The Osu Mantse was described as humble but firm leader with passion for education and a leader who treats all persons fairly irrespective of their background.

Touching on some of his major support to the NGO, in education, the group said their decision to honor the Osu Mantse was for his consistent demonstration of transformational leadership and supportive for all in the Osu locality adding that the Osu Educational Found Initiative and OMANCODI are few to mention.

According to the group, the over ten years rule of Nii Kinka Dowuona, the people of Osu have witnessed many development in the area of education, meeting the basic needs of the people especially the needy and the less privilege within the Osu area.

They added that one of the major achievements by the the Osu Mantse, is the Paramountcy he was able to get for Osu and his intention of lobbying for Osu to have its own Municipality.

The citation also captured, “Our achievements are shopped by the strength of the foundation we set, thank you for your commitment to excellence, thank you for shining us through” it noted.

The group disclosed that they did not have any difficulty in arriving at the decision to honor the Osu Mantse, considering the enviable achievements and unity he has brought over the years as the Osu Mantse.

According to the group, another reason for honoring the Osu Mantse was to inspire other leaders to deliver exceptional leadership and support their communities.

Receiving the award, His Royal Majesty, Nii Okwei Kinka Dowuona VI, revealed that he is touched by the action of the group and wish to commend them for recognizing him for his efforts and contribution towards education in the country.

He said he will continue to support the group to help promote education and the welfare of all school going age children within the Osu Traditional Area, adding that, education is an important area that needs to be tackled, hence his passion to support in education.

He said he considers the NGO as a very important partner in promoting education as well as rendering its services to the community.

The Osu Mantse advised the school children present at the durbar to always get closer to their book and learn hard to become responsible people in the near future.
