Legon gets first female Vice Chancellor

The newly constituted Council of the University of Ghana has decided to appoint Professor Nana Aba Appiah Amfo as Acting Vice Chancellor until a substantive VC is appointed.

Until this new appointment, Prof Nana Aba Appiah Amfo was the Pro-Vice Chancellor in charge of Academic and Student Affairs (ASA).

After its inauguration on Monday, July 26, the Council in a short meeting considered Section 10(2)(b) of the University of Ghana Act, 2010, Act 806, and Section 6(3) of the University of Ghana Statutes and decided to appoint the senior of the two Pro-Vice Chancellors to act.

Her appointment takes effect from Sunday, August 1.

These were contained in a statement issued by the Registrar, Mercy Haizel-Ashia, on Monday.

Prof Nana Aba Appiah Amfo takes over from Prof Ebenezer Oduro Owusu.
