Land guards attack Kasoa residents during communal labour

Four people have been injured at Kasoa Akweley in the Central Region after a ten-member land guard allegedly attacked them during a communal labour.

Some of the victims were said to be wedding an area to clear it of snakes and mosquitoes when the attack happened.

The victims claim there was an earlier attack that failed, forcing the attackers to bring in more members of their gang who started shooting, and beating the victims with sticks.

“Four of us have been cut badly by the land guards and it’s only by the grace of God that we are still alive,” one of the victims narrated.

The victims were left with wounds on their heads and other parts of their bodies.

The victims who spoke to Adom News said one of the suspects has been arrested by the Kasoa New Market police.

Meanwhile, the Odikro of the Kasoa Akweley, Nana Kofi Aryitey, has expressed shock at the actions of the land guards.

The Assemblyman for the Kasoa electoral area, Peter Goodman also expressed his disappointment with the land guards.

“The situation at Akweley is getting out of hands with armed robbers and land guards attacking even in broad daylight. We are however working towards this problem and will, therefore, urge the media to support us in helping solve this issue if not to stop it completely”.
