Kofi Akpaloo denied entry into Manhyia Palace
The Manhyia Palace on Thursday denied members of the Liberal Party of Ghana entry for failure to conform to necessary protocols.
The palace had cancelled all arrangements for paying homage to the Asantehene.
But LPG Presidential Candidate, Percival Kofi Akpaloo, who had prior notice of the reviewed arrangement, said massing up at the gate of the palace was to convince the palace to consider the decision.
“We were supposed to come last Friday but we received a later notice from the palace, suggesting that we should reschedule our visit to Wednesday.
“However, we got here last night and the personal secretary to Otumfuo said it’s not going to be possible because of some customs they have to perform,” he told JoyNews.
“But my people had been organised already, we’ve all come all over from Accra to this place and it would have been inappropriate not to go there. So we decided to go there to see if they might reconsider their decision.
Meanwhile, hundreds of LPG supporters had joined their leader who is on nationwide tour to march to the palace as well as through the principal streets of Kumasi.
They held placards with campaign messages and also shared policy documents with the electorate.
Kofi Akpaloo expressed satisfaction with the acceptance of the party’s campaign message.
“Everywhere that we’ve been, the people there have received us very well and we are 100% sure and certain that at the end of the day, we will win the elections,” he said.
Party members are also optimistic that their chances in winning the December 7, elections are very high.
They are also optimistic that Kofi Akpoloo’s regime will provide them with good jobs and a better livelihood.
