King Mswati III gifts $1,000 to each Eswatini student at KNUST

The generous gesture was made during his visit to the Kumasi-based university on Friday, June 27, 2025, as part of a broader official tour of Ghana, which also included a banquet hosted by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
Before the presentation, the King and his wife met privately with the students, offering words of encouragement and commending their academic discipline, as noted by KNUST Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Mrs.) Rita Akosua Dickson.
“Work hard and be good ambassadors for other emaSwati students who may want to study here,” King Mswati III advised, urging them to make the most of their education and return home to contribute to national development.
He also praised KNUST’s academic environment and encouraged the students to uphold the values of respect and cultural pride that define emaSwati identity.
“You now serve as a link between us and the university. I wish you success and encourage you to remain respectful and focused,” he added.
The King toured facilities including the Opoku Ware II Museum and the E-Learning Centre. He is expected to return to KNUST on Saturday, June 28, to join the Asantehene at the university’s graduation ceremony.
