Kasoa: 2 arrested for fraud using Police Commander’s late wife’s name

A 33-year- old man, Lawson Adams and his accomplice, Baba Abdullai have been arrested for allegedly using the name of the late wife of Ofaakor District Police Commander to defraud business people in Kasoa.

They were picked up on Tuesday February 7, 2023 at Kasoa Ofaakor in the Awutu Senya East District of the Central Region.

Information gathered by Kasapa News Yaw Boagyan indicates that, the suspects Lawson Adams and Baba Abdullai were using the funeral poster of Mrs Justina Naa Adaku Amfoh to extort money ostensibly to mobilize funds to pay mortuary fee.

The suspects holding the poster of the deceased were said to be going round telling people that the District Police Commander had sent them to solicit for funds to support his wife’s funeral.

The suspects were said to have done this for several weeks and had raised some money, until some curious persons started calling the Commander for confirmation.

Armed with this information, Police conducted investigation and got the suspects arrested.

The District Police Commander confirming their arrest denied knowledge of the two and condemed their activities.

They are in the custody of Kasoa Ofaakor Police Command assisting investigation.
