MyNewsGh.com has confirmed that the 30-year-old Indian businessman who was kidnapped in Kumasi on Thursday night has been rescued by the police.

It is not immediately known if the kidnappers were arrested during the operation that saw the freedom of Umpakan Chodri after close to 18-hours in captivity.

Police sources had earlier revealed to MyNewsGh.com that three unidentified men onboard an unregistered Toyota Salon vehicle at gunpoint forced the victim who was driving a black, Mazda CX-7 with registration number AS 5442-17, into their vehicle at Ahodwo Kumasi and sped off.

They reported to have called his relation, Tamil Kumar who is a businessman demanding a $500,000 ransom for his release warning him not to involve the police and sent images of a gun pointed at him with his hands tied to his back.

But police a while ago managed to rescue him though with a few bruises and he is said to be conducting the round on how it all happened.
