JUST IN: Attorney General FREES Sammy Gyamfi over Ofosu Ampofo’s leaked tape

MyNewsGh.com has confirmed that National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi will not be prosecuted over his alleged involvement in the infamous leaked Ofosu Ampofo tape.

It is gathered that the Attorney General has advised that the outspoken NDC executive be excluded from persons to be prosecuted leaving only Samuel Ofosu Ampofo and Kwaku Boahen to face the law.

Mr. Sammy Gyamfi was charged with conspiracy to commit a crime to wit kidnapping and conspiracy to commit a crime to wit threat of harm following contents of the leaked tape in a post-Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency by-election meeting.

In the said tape which captured someone’s voice believed to be Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, the NDC National Chairman at the meeting, he was heard inciting party communicators against heads of some departments.

“As for the EC Chair, we must wage a relentless war on this EC chair. Me, she doesn’t want to see my face. We will go after them, but we will not go after them face-to-face. We have to use tactical operation to make life very uncomfortable for them. We will target some people and we will let the people know that their lives are in danger”

Mr. Ampofo has refused to admit or otherwise whether the voice in the infamous leaked tape is his.

Several attempts by police interrogators to get the NDC executive speak about the issue proved futile to the extent his lawyers had to intervene and caution the police against harassing their client.
