Joshua ALABI makes U-turn; begs for NDC filing fee to be reduced to GH¢100K

The National Campaign Coordinator for Professor Joshua Alabi an aspiring flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is begging the leadership of his party to slash the already reduced ‘outrageous’ filing fee to GH¢100,000despite the reduction to  GH¢300,000

According to Nii Amasah Namoale, there is no reason for his party to charge such an amount because the NDC would still have been able to organize its elections if only one aspirant had filed his nomination.

“They could have found money, so let them find and pay for”, Namoale said in an interview with Kumasi based radio Abusua Fm monitored by MyNewsGh.com Thursday.

Filling fee for presidential aspirants of the NationalDemocratic Congress (NDC) was slashed by GH¢100,000 following a joint petition by the aspirants to the National Council of Elders.

The candidates will now have to pay GH¢300,000 instead of the GH¢400,000 that was earlier communicated by National Executive Council(NEC) to the aspirants.

The nomination fee of GH¢20,000 however, stands.

The sale of nomination forms which closed on Tuesday, December 4 was forced to be extended to Saturday, December 8.

But Namoale in his interview insisted “Simple analyses, ifonly one person had filed for nomination the party could have still been able to organize the elections with only GH¢ 120,000 if that will not be sufficient, won’t the party have appealed for funds?  He quizzed

“So why don’t you (leadership of the NDC) divide the GH¢120,000by all the aspirants and let them pay because if only one person had picked the form they would have still organize the election”, Namoale chided.

The former  La Dade KotoponMP further stated, during the constituency elections of the party, only  GH¢5,000 was given to each for organizing the election including feeding and therefore it is possible to charge  GH¢100,000 and still be able to hold the elections without any challenge.
