Nigerian singer Joseph Akinfenwaa Donus, known as Joeboy, has criticized President Bola Tinubu and his administration for focusing on changing the national anthem instead of tackling economic hardship in the country.

On Wednesday, May 29, as President Tinubu celebrated his one year in office, he signed a bill into law reinstating the old national anthem, “Nigeria, We Hail Thee.”

Joeboy, displeased with the actions of the Tinubu-led government, expressed concerns about the leaders’ priorities.

Taking to his social media page, he wrote: “Of all the problems Nigerians have to deal with, changing the national anthem is a priority? Okay then.”

Several other Nigerians have also criticized the government for reinstating the old national anthem while the country is plagued by poverty.
