Jean Mensah is NPP- CPP asserts

Some leading members of the opposition Convention Peoples Party (CPP)and National Democratic Congress (NDC) are taking issue with the nomination of Mrs. Jean Mensah as chairperson of the electoral commission.

A former Convention Peoples Party parliamentary candidate for Jomoro constituency in the Western Region, Francis Tandoh claims Mrs. Mensah is a New Patriotic Party (NPP) member and cannot be fair in her dealings as chairperson of the electoral commission.

According to him, evidence abounds that the newly nominated EC Chairperson is political and will not be neutral in her dealings with all the political parties, adding that she will work according to the dictates of the appointing authority, president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo and the New Patriotic Party.

In his opinion, Mrs. Mensah worked against former EC Chairperson, Mrs. Charlotte Osei, culminating in the current sorry state of the commission.

Mr. Francis Tandoh was speaking on Accra based radio gold and monitored by MyNewsGh.com.

Speaking on the same platform, leading National Democratic Congress (NDC) member, Anita Desosoo faulted President Akufo Addo for the nomination of Mrs. Jean Mensah as Chairperson of the electoral commission.

She opined that the new EC Chairperson cannot extricate herself from the political tag that has been hanged around her neck, adding that it is common knowledge that she has been in bed with the ruling NPP over the years.

They have vowed to ensure that the appointment does not hold and will not leave anything to chance as far as this matter is concerned.
