Jamie Carragher won’t even make the top 2,000 defenders in the world – Sammy Kuffour fires

During the outrage over Jamie Carragher’s comments on the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), debates over football legacies surfaced when Joey Barton claimed that Carragher had a better career than every African defender.
These remarks caught the attention of former Bayern Munich and Black Stars defender Samuel Osei Kuffour, who launched a scathing attack on Carragher.
Speaking to Sporty TV, the 2001 Champions League winner did not hold back in his criticism, questioning Carragher’s status among the game’s greats.
“If we mentioned the best 2,000 defenders in the world, Jamie Carragher would not be part of them. He’s nothing. He just talks. He should be ashamed of himself,” he said.
Kuffour further argued that without Carragher’s Liverpool roots, he wouldn’t have had the opportunity to play for the club and, therefore, should leave the talking to the best defenders.
“What has Jamie Carragher achieved? If he wasn’t born in Liverpool, he would not have had the chance to play for Liverpool. Ferdinand and Terry are the ones to talk, not Carragher,” he added.
