James Mireku breathes new life into Elder Mireku classics with Vol. 3

Ghanaian musician and producer James Mireku is set to release Elder Mireku Classics Vol. 3, a six-track project that seeks to preserve the rich musical legacy of Elder Mireku while giving a new generation an opportunity to experience the timeless songs in a fresh way.

The project will be officially released on Friday, 18 September 2026.

Elder Mireku Classics Vol. 3 continues James Mireku’s commitment to revisiting and reimagining some of the enduring works associated with Elder Mireku. The new collection draws heavily from Ghana’s gospel music tradition, combining the character of vintage musicianship with contemporary production and carefully crafted arrangements.

The project is not simply a reproduction of the original works. James Mireku brings his own creative direction to the arrangements while making sure the soul, message and identity of the music remain intact.

“This project is about carrying the sound forward without losing its soul. Every arrangement honours the original music while giving a new generation a fresh way to experience it,” James Mireku said.

The six-track project features Tuntum Black, Kofi Owusu Peprah, Calvis Hammond and FRA!, with each artiste adding a distinct musical character to the collection.

Produced by James Mireku and recorded at JM Studios, the project reflects a deliberate effort to connect the traditional sound of Ghanaian gospel with the expectations of today’s music audience.

For James Mireku, preserving the legacy of Elder Mireku goes beyond keeping old songs alive. It is about ensuring that music with strong messages and lasting musical value continues to reach audiences across generations.

Elder Mireku Classics Vol. 3 is expected to appeal to longtime admirers of Elder Mireku’s music as well as younger listeners discovering the classics for the first time.

The project will be available from Friday, 18 September 2026.
