Residents of Ayawaso North are benefiting from a free health screening and NHIS registration exercise sponsored by the Member of Parliament for the constituency, Hon. Yussif Issaka Jajah.
The initiative is aimed at bringing essential healthcare services closer to residents while encouraging regular health checks, early detection and timely treatment of health conditions.
The exercise is being organised through the Office of the MP in partnership with the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), Accra New Town Islamic Hospital, Farijah Foundation and other participating organisations.
Residents are being offered a range of services, including free NHIS registration and renewal, malaria testing and treatment, blood pressure and diabetes screening, Hepatitis B screening, eye screening and the provision of reading glasses.
Dental screening and treatment are also available, while residents who require further medical attention will be referred for additional care.
The first phase of the exercise was held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at the Accra New Town Islamic Hospital.
The programme will continue on Saturday, September 26, at Western Video, before concluding on Saturday, October 3, at Alidu Park.
The exercise runs from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on each scheduled day.
The programme is fully sponsored by Hon. Yussif Issaka Jajah as part of efforts to support the health needs of constituents and make basic healthcare services more accessible within Ayawaso North.
Speaking during the exercise, Hajia Farida Jajah, popularly known as Farijah, President and Founder of the Farijah Foundation and wife of the MP, said women empowerment would be a key and important part of her husband’s vision as the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso North.
She stressed the importance of creating opportunities for women and supporting them to contribute meaningfully to the development of their families and communities.
Hajia Farida Jajah has also been actively involved in community activities and initiatives within the constituency, supporting the MP’s engagements and interacting with residents.
Some residents who participated in the exercise commended Hajia Farida Jajah for what they described as her active and vigorous role in supporting the MP and contributing to initiatives aimed at improving the lives of residents.
They expressed appreciation for her involvement in community activities and her efforts to complement the work of the MP.
The health screening is expected to help residents identify health conditions at an early stage while providing an opportunity for people who have not renewed their NHIS membership to do so.
The initiative is being held under the theme “Screen, Treat & Refer”, with the message “Your Health, Our Priority. Healthier Ayawaso North, Together!”
Residents who are yet to benefit from the exercise are encouraged to attend the remaining sessions and take advantage of the services being offered.
