A young man who claimed in a viral video that some members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) had hired him and his associates to fortify themselves with juju and stage violence during the upcoming general elections has apologised for his actions.
The young man, in the video posted on the social media platform X, formerly Twitter, had alleged that although he and his colleagues took the money, they had decided not to go through with the deal. He also threatened violence ahead of the election, particularly against the Ashantis.
However, in a dramatic volte-face, the young man has taken to X to ask the public for forgiveness, claiming he regrets his actions.
“I have no one to support me if you jail me over my video. I don’t even know what came over me to make such a video. Please forgive me,” he said.
“I posted a video burning an NPP shirt and claimed that the NPP gave us money to cause violence during the forthcoming general elections. I know the video has trended, and I have received many calls and messages. I beg of you, please stop sharing the video and forgive me. Please don’t jail me because I burned an NPP shirt; I have nobody to support me. Please forgive me for what I did. I don’t know what came over me to do such a thing. I am begging for forgiveness,” he pleaded.
