Kumawood actor Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as LilWin, has once again apologised to actress Martha Ankomah following his latest court appearance on Tuesday, November 5, 2024.
This comes in the wake of a GH¢5 million defamation lawsuit filed by Ankomah against LilWin, which was set for hearing at an Accra High Court.
The lawsuit stemmed from LilWin’s disparaging remarks about Ankomah, which he made several months ago.
Martha Ankomah’s legal counsel, Nii Apatu Plange, informed Justice Forson Agyapong Baah of their intention to proceed with the suit on October 15, 2024, after LilWin failed to reach an out-of-court settlement.
After leaving the courtroom, LilWin and his lawyer went live on TikTok to apologise to Martha Ankomah on behalf of himself and his Wezzy Empire management team.
“I’m just here to apologise to my sister in the movie industry, Martha Ankomah. We all want peace in this country, which is why I’ve decided to involve my lawyer and other chiefs so everyone will see how serious I am about this. I love Martha so much; she is very dear to me.
“It’s just a mere misunderstanding that led to this. I’m not the type that goes about insulting people, and it’s not intentional to make her feel bad,” LilWin explained.
He called on his fans and loved ones to join him in apologising to Ankomah and help bring an end to their legal dispute.
LilWin admitted that his remarks had emotionally affected Ankomah and expressed regret for his actions.
“To all my fans who have been supportive ever since I started acting, I’m on this platform as LilWin for y’all to join me in officially apologising to Martha Ankomah. She took the issue to heart because she’s a woman, and I understand her. It’s my wish to work with her, and I pray she forgives me,” he said.
He also pledged to avoid defamatory statements in the future and expressed hope of working with Ankomah on upcoming projects.
What Happened?
Ankomah filed the lawsuit after LilWin attacked her for declining an offer to work with Kumawood.
In a viral video, LilWin used harsh and unprintable words towards Ankomah.
Despite agreeing to an out-of-court settlement, LilWin failed to appear in court for the proceedings, further complicating the case.
