The Israeli government has said it is prepared to provide the necessary assistance to the government of Ghana toward achieving self-reliance and economic independence.

Israel has had very good diplomatic relations with Ghana for the past 60 years and has championed projects in the West African country’s agriculture, defence and infrastructure, among others.

The middle-eastern country has also provided scholarships for Ghanaian students.

In an interview with Class 91.3FM on the sidelines of an event to mark Israel’s Independence Day celebration in Accra, the Ambassador of Israel to Ghana, Shani Cooper, indicated that Israel is poised to increase her cooperation with Ghana to achieve mutual economic transformation anchored on a grand agenda of helping build a ‘Ghana Beyond Aid’.

“During the years, we see a development of the relations and the cooperation between Ghana and Israel. Today, we are not doing only development, we are talking about real cooperation founded on the ‘Ghana Beyond Aid’ policy. We believe that together, Ghana and Israel can have the ability to reach the sky,” Ms Cooper noted.

She said Israel is a leading force in innovation and technology and she is ready to make such interventions available to solve Ghana’s problems.

The ‘Ghana Beyond Aid’ agenda is a policy by the Akufo-Addo-led New Patriotic Party (NPP) government geared towards self-reliance.
