Outrage as Wassa Esaaman Council deposes queen mother amidst charm allegations

The Agona Clan, the kingmakers of the Wassa Esaaman stool in the Wassa East District of the Western Region, have conducted customary rituals to remove the Queen Mother of the area, Nana Manua Mehunu Hann II.

She was deposed for reportedly giving the names of 14 opinion leaders in the community to a spiritualist to cast a charm on them so they would always obey her orders and commands.

Nana Kwadjo Boampong II, the Dwamtoahene of the Wassa Anyinabrem Divisional Area, explained that the Family Head (Abusuapanin) had visited the spiritualist and saw a list of names, including his own, on a table.

After questioning, the spiritualist admitted that the queen mother had brought the list to him to charm the individuals into obeying her commands.

Nana Boampong II informed that the residents and traditional leaders of Wassa Esaaman viewed the queen mother’s actions as disrespectful and against tradition, leading to the decision to depose her.

The former queen mother has been given a two-week deadline to vacate the residence provided by the community.
