Investigations launched into fatal accident involving police bus and motor rider at Tesano

The Ghana Police Service has commenced investigations into a fatal motor accident involving a Police Yutong bus with registration number GP 417 and a Royal motorbike with an unknown registration number.

The tragic incident occurred on the morning of October 30, 2024, at the Tesano Zongo traffic intersection in Accra.

This was confirmed in a statement released on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, which stated, “The motor rider was rushed to the hospital for medical attention but was pronounced dead on arrival by the medical officer on duty.”

Additionally, the statement mentioned that “The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has spoken with the family to express his condolences on behalf of the Ghana Police Service and assured them of a thorough investigation into the incident.”

According to preliminary reports, the accident reportedly took place as the police bus driver attempted to bypass traffic by using the opposite lane, which led to the fatal collision with the rider.

The crash further intensified an already heavy traffic jam, extending from Tesano through the Achimota overhead towards Nsawam.
